In 2019, I repaired (painted) a part of the body damaged by fire. And since I had to do such work for the first time, the paint work was not entirely successful. Primer-insulator HB BODY 970 did not spread completely, and the surface turned out to be uneven. The color of the base enamel was different from the one in which the car was painted at the factory. Therefore, in the same year, I decided, since I still have to redo everything, I will paint the entire body. At the same time, I will repair the corroded places. I decided to start with the luggage compartment, then make the right side, and finish with the engine compartment. In the fall of the same 2019, I started work.
He removed the trunk lid seal, the lid itself, took out the upholstery. Washed the drain and other parts of the car body from the composition for the preservation of hidden cavities. I cleaned the rusty places and treated them twice with a rust converter. Between the first and second treatment with a converter, I cleaned off the remnants of exfoliated rust with a cord brush. I wrote about my experience with rust converters in this article.
All cleaned places where the metal was visible, treated with an acid primer HB BODY 960. Over applied primer-filler HB BODY 634.
In one of the places on the rear panel, where putty was previously applied after a small accident, I had to apply a new layer of putty, sand it, and re-coat it with a filler primer.
After all the preparatory work, I covered the luggage compartment and the back panel with the anti-corrosion agent HB BODY 951. The choice of such a coating was due to considerations - "did it and forgot it." A beautiful appearance in the trunk is useless, anyway, it is all covered with upholstery. Yes, and beauty here is a relative concept, when compared with what it was before processing, we can say that the result turned out to be very good.
That's all, until the next articles.
