Today I will tell and show the result of priming damaged and then prepared body parts (mudguard, roof with pillars and rear wing).
Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture of how the primary primer HB BODY 960 (acid) was applied. I was very worried that I would not have time to prepare for the application of the secondary primer HB BODY 634 (filler). The instructions say that the acid primer is ready for applying secondary primers in ten minutes, and after an hour it must be sanded. So, everything had to be done quickly.
I applied the acid primer in two layers, although one is enough. For this, I used approximately 250 ml of primer and 250 ml of activator.
Then I washed the paint sprayer tank with a solvent, dismantled the nozzle and needle (the 960th is applied with a 1.4 mm nozzle, and the 634th - 1.7 mm, from the ones I have available). Installed a new needle and nozzle. Next, I mixed the primer-filler and hardener. When mixing it, I did not know how much of the finished primer would be needed. I took a 600 ml measuring cup. However, the scale on the beaker, indicating a ratio of 4:1, allowed only about 350 ml to be diluted. I ended up mixing it 3 more times.
About the proportions in which to dilute primers I described in this article.
Otherwise, there were no difficulties in applying both primers, only excitement interfered. The primers lay flat. There were smudges only in the places of interfaces of body parts, due to the fact that I tried to paint over them properly. I concluded for myself that it is necessary to make a good (abundant) jet and keep the paint sprayer at the recommended distance from the surface (20-30 cm). Also, the first layer must be made incomplete (dusting), and after holding for 10 minutes, subsequent layers should already be applied. I will take this into account when applying the base enamel and varnish, as well as the subsequent priming and painting of the front fender and doors. Excitement away!
In the next article I will tell and show the result of grinding the HB BODY 634 primer-filler.
That's all, until the next articles.
